In God We Trust

Author: Joshua Goodling

On July 4th we will celebrate Independence Day and our love for this great country. While America has many problems, it is still the greatest nation on earth (at least in my humble opinion).

However, America has gotten way too far away from our God in recent years. Many of our Presidents have known the importance of trusting in God, and here is what some of them had to say:

"We have staked the future of all our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government; upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God."
- James Madison

"We Recognize No Sovereign but God, and no King but Jesus!"
- John Adams

"The Bible is endorsed by the ages; our civilization is built opon its words. In no other book is there such a collection of inspired wisdom, reality and hope."
- Dwight Eisenhower

"The more profoundly we study this wonderful Book, and the more closely we observe its divine precepts, the better citizens we will become and the higher will be our destiny as a nation."
-William McKinley

"Belief in, and dependence on, God is absolutely essential."
- Ronald Reagan

"We have been assured, neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, can separate us from God's love. May He bless the souls of the departed. May He comfort our own. And may He always guide our country. God bless America."
- George W. Bush

Our nation will never be any greater than our dependence upon Almighty God and our love and devotion to Him.

In the last will and testament of Patrick Henry, you'll find these words:

"This is all the inheritance I can give my dear family. The religion of Christ can give them one which will make them rich indeed."

As we celebrate the birth of our nation this July 4th, let us also celebrate the God in whom we trust, and pray that more people will place their trust and faith in Him!
